Dr. Tariq Abdelkarim, M.D.

Dr. Karim completed his medical residency at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. He completed an additional three years of fellowship (and is Board Certified) in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine (also at University of Missouri-Kansas City).

Dr. Karim has been providing medical care to the residents of Hillsdale and surrounding areas since 2004 and has expanded this service to the Coldwater area.

Dr. Mohamed W. Al-Azem is the interpreting radiologist for Karim HealthCare. Dr. Al-Azem earned his Bachelor of Science and Medical Doctor at Damascus University. He went on to his internship at Damascus Hospital and St. Francis Hospital in Trenton , New Jersey followed by his residency at Homer G. Phillips Hospital, Wayne State University and Grace-Harper Hospitals. Dr.

Al brought his radiology experience to the office in April of 2016. He has worked with many local hospitals including Adrian, Coldwater, Hillsdale, and Tecumseh.

My name is Brandon Douglass and I was born and raised in Somerset, Michigan. In high school, I loved playing sports and being outdoors. I was always interested in the medical field, but was unsure which area I wanted to pursue. I went to Central Michigan University where I studied Biomedical Sciences and explored possible avenues for a career in healthcare. During my undergraduate studies, my passion for anatomy, biology, and the human body grew into a pursuit towards becoming a physician assistant. After I graduated from CMU in 2014, I chose to attend Kettering College of Medical Arts where I learned that medicine was about so much more than just symptoms and treatments.

I look forward to not only treating, but developing relationships with the people of Hillsdale while working here with Dr. Karim.

I came from a family of healthcare professionals as my dad is an orthopedic surgeon and mom is a nurse, and it just seemed to fit that I would end up somewhere in the medical field. After my freshmen year of college, my dad encouraged me to look at the PA profession as a possible career and I am glad he did so. I shadowed PAs in a variety of fields and after seeing how involved they were in patient care, it felt like it was a right fit for me. I majored in Exercise Science at Hope College and I was accepted into the University of Toledo for PA program, where I graduated in January 2017. It seemed like I would never see the title PA-C next to my name, but all the hard work and time I put in was worth it.

Hello! My name is Cara Klein.

I am a Board Certified Family Nursing Practitioner. I began my healthcare career at age 18 when I worked as phlebotomist in the lab and a nursing assistant. I attended nursing school at Western Michigan University where I received my Bachelors of Science in Nursing. As a Registered Nurse, I worked in the emergency room and trauma center. I worked as a nurse for seven years, before returning to nurse practitioner school. I attended the University of Arizona where I received a Doctorate in Nursing Practice with a focus in Family Practice.

During his career, CPT Strain served as a Hospital Corpsman in Camp Pendleton from 2003-2006. Deployed to Landstuhl, Germany, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. 2007 changed service to the U.S Army at the rank of First Lieutenant. Served with the 322nd Med Co. from 2007-2013. Deployed to Iraq in 2009, participating in Operation Iraq Freedom and Operation New Dawn. Conus duties included Physical Security officer from 2011-2013. Committee Chief for 1-334th B Co, Richmond, IN. Currently, Commanding officer of 1-3344th B Co. Milwaukee, WI.
Civilian: FNP-C at Karim Healthcare in Coldwater, MI.

Military and Civilian education include: BOLC 2008, Fort Sam Houston, Physical Security Program, Ft Knox (2012), Family Nurse Practitioner, 2016, Simmons College, Boston, MA. Pediatric Advanced Life-support Instructor, 2012, Borgess Medical Center, Kalamazoo, MI.

Awards Include: Army Commendation Medal (2nd Award), Naval Reserve Meritorious Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, Army Service Ribbon, Navy Marine Corps Overseas Service Ribbon, and Armed Forces Reserve Medal with Device.
